Sandy Creek High’s Sam Evans is taking to the skies. Evans, a junior, is an official pilot after earning his private license over the summer at Purdue University through an Air Force JROTC Scholarship.

Last year, Evans was a winner of one of 200 scholarships for the Air Force Flight Academy Private Pilot Scholarship Program. He was able to choose from among 24 summer university programs to attend for college credit and the opportunity to earn the private pilot certification/license valued at more than $20,000.
