U.S. Postal Inspectors have arrested one of two men believed to have robbed a contract truck driver at the Fayetteville Post Office Jan. 29.
Anthony Maddox was arrested Feb. 18, said Postal Inspector Yulanda Burns.

Inspectors are still working to arrest the other person involved in the case.

The truck driver was physically accosted by two men just after 7 p.m. Jan. 29 in the rear fenced-in secured area of the post office, officials said. The two men got away with three postal bags, officials said.

The truck driver who was assaulted was a contract employee who drove a tractor trailer; the victim was not a letter carrier, Burns said.

Fayetteville police and Fayette County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene when the robbery was reported to 911. K-9 dogs were used in an attempt to track the suspects’ trail and the area was canvassed for any witnesses to the attack.
