The Coweta Charter Academy at Senoia is getting set for its first Fall Festival to be held at the school on Ga. Highway 16 on Sept. 15. More than raising funds for the school, the festival will also benefit the Community Welcome House for women and children in Newnan.
Parent volunteer Crystal Samples said activities at the festival will include an American Idol Karaoke Stage, a clown, cake walk, hay ride, face painting, inflatable slide, bounce house, picture station, a dunk tank and other games. Samples said arm bands for unlimited games and activities are available through Dept. 7 for $15. Arm bands for unlimited rides and games will cost $20 beginning Sept. 20. Tickets will also be available on the day of the event which runs from 4-8 p.m. Vendor space for the festival is currently available.
Bad to the Bone will be catering the event, with 100 percent of profits going to the Coweta Charter Academy. Meals, including chips and a drink, will cost $4-5.
Samples said the festival is also a way to give back to the community.
“For this year’s Fall Festival, we have chosen a local charity to support. We want to show our children that even as we gather to play, we can choose to give to those in need in our community,” Samples said. “The charity we will support is the Community Welcome House in Newnan. This is a center for women and children who are escaping domestic violence and in need of a fresh start. This center aids women in getting back on their feet by helping them find a job and home.”
Donations for the Community Welcome House are being accepted through the night of the festival for items such as large storage bins for clothes, laundry detergent, Lysol disinfectant, sponges, deodorant (for women only), paper towels, quart and gallon baggies, boxes of tissue, shampoo and conditioner and cleaning supplies. Residents could also benefit from a used suitcase or duffel bag.
