He is preceded in death by his father, Fakirmohmed, and mother, Zainab; son, Mohamad Abbas; sisters: Asma (Jafarhusain), Salma (Ahmedhusain), and Arjuman (Riyaj); and brothers: Khadimhusain (Rafikabanu), Iqbalhusain (Jebun), and Mohamad Ali (Nafisa).

Asif was born on March 7, 1955, in Ahmedabad, India. He attended Sahjanand Arts & Commerce College, where he studied accounting for two years. He moved to Paris, France, in 1980 and worked as a server and then manager of an Indian restaurant until he married his wife Firdos in 1994 and moved to Atlanta.

He helped Firdos raise her two children, Farah and Abbas, whose father Anis died in 1986, as his own. Asif and Firdos bought the Peachtree City Dairy Queen in 1996 and owned it until 2016, after Asif had a stroke and aortic dissection in 2015.

His family remembers him as a loving, devoted, generous, funny, and kind husband, dad, brother, uncle, and grand-uncle who worked incredibly hard for many years to support everyone he cared about.

Asif was dedicated to providing excellent customer service to everyone who came into Dairy Queen and to being a mentor to his employees. He was also an avid cricket fan and enjoyed watching matches, especially when his favorite team, the Pakistan national cricket team, was playing.

He loved 70s and 80s music and would often sing along to his favorites (the Bee Gees, Kool & The Gang, Bob Marley, and Culture Club, to name a few) at home and at work. He spoke several languages, including English, Gujarati, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, and French. He was a devout member of his mosque, the Jaffari Center of Atlanta.

The funeral took place at the Jaffari Center on May 14, followed by burial at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Jaffari Center of Atlanta via jaffari.com/donated. Condolences can be sent to Firdos and Farah via email at farahmomin@gmail.com.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and caregivers who cared for Asif while he was ill — especially the those at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, WellStar Cobb and Kennestone, Centerwell, and the director and staff at Marietta Life Center. The family would also like to thank Firdos’ family and the Momin community at Jaffari Center for their prayers and support.
