You might want to think twice before littering while driving in Peachtree City — especially if you have something else you don’t want police to know about.
According to reports, an officer was driving east on Hwy. 54 near Walt Banks Road when the driver of a dark truck in front of him threw a lit cigarette out his window and it landed on the pavement in front of the police car. That led to a traffic stop, and the ensuing investigation revealed that the driver was under the influence. William Seabolt, 41, was arrested and charged with DUI of alcohol and littering.
Elsewhere in Peachtree City, another routine traffic stop led to an arrest on felony drug and weapon charges.
According to a police report, the vehicle in question was pulled over Jan. 27 on Stevens Entry at Peachtree Parkway. The driver was found to be wanted out of Cobb County on “a slew of felonious charges,” the report stated.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect had cocaine and Perocet as well as a firearm.
Lenny Glover, 57, of Peachtree City faces two counts of drug possession/sale/manufacture and one count each of possession of firearm/knife in commission of crime and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. All are felonies.
An officer on patrol Jan. 25 saw a disabled vehicle on the westbound side of Hwy. 54 in front of Cheers Liquor blocking one lane with its hazard lights on. When the officer made contact, the occupants of the vehicle said it had a dead battery. The officer smelled a marijuana odor but could not find a testable amount of the drug. He did, however, find 10 credit cards and three checks that did not belong to anyone in the vehicle.
The driver, Dwight Joiner, 24, of Palmetto was arrested and taken to Fayette County Jail.
A seat belt violation led to a Jan. 26 traffic stop in the area of Commerce Drive. Probable cause was established for a vehicle search, as the driver admitted to having marijuana inside the car when questioned.
The search unveiled a felony amount of marijuana. Henre Ricketts, 19, of Peachtree City was arrested and taken to Fayette County Jail.
Officers responded Jan. 29 to a domestic issue at a residence on Caledonia Court. A female complainant told police that she had been struck several time by a man who also had taken her phone and prevented her from leaving. An examination showed her injuries to be consistent with her description of the incident. The male suspect refused to speak to police.
Craig Campbell, 43, of Peachtree City faces felony charges of false imprisonment and robbery as well as lesser counts of battery and interfering with a 911 call, according to the Fayette County Jail log.
