Law enforcement officers were seeing double during a Jan. 19 traffic stop that led to felony arrests for a set of twin brothers in north Fayette County.
According to a spokesman for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was in the middle of another traffic stop just after 10 p.m. when he saw a vehicle make an illegal move into the oncoming lane of traffic to go around them. Another vehicle coming in the opposite direction had to hit the brakes to avoid a collision, and the unsafe manner of that initial maneuver prompted a subsequent traffic stop.
Once that stop was made, the investigation revealed that both occupants had drugs and firearms inside the vehicle.
Jeremy Gentry and Justin Gentry, both of Fayetteville, are listed on the Fayette County Jail log as being 23 years old and with the same birthdate. Both are facing felony charges for drugs and for possession of a weapon in commission of a crime. Justin Gentry was the driver and also faces five traffic violations.
Elsewhere in Fayette County, a motor vehicle accident the afternoon of Jan. 19 led to a felony drug arrest. Deputies were dispatched to the area of Hwy. 314 and Kenwood Road to investigate, and it was determined that the suspect who was involved in the accident had a significant amount of drugs in his possession.
Jacques Coppee, 40, of Orlando, Fla., was arrested and charged with drug possession/sale/manufacture as well as a lesser count of marijuana possession along with possession/use of drug-related objects.
