Numerous suspects wanted for various alleged crimes are behind bars in Fayette County after being apprehended in other jurisdictions. Two are under arrest for numerous felony charges involving financial shenanigans.
According to a Fayette County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, fraudulent activity occurred on a victim’s checking account between June and July. It was determined that the suspect used the victim’s card to make unauthorized purchases that were charged to the account. Each violation is a separate charge, and the suspect pretended to be the victim while using a computer to make the purchases.
Keenan Morris, 27, of Decatur was picked up Oct. 31 from the DeKalb County Jail, where he was being held. He faces four counts each of financial identity fraud, computer fraud and financial transaction card fraud, according to the Fayette County Jail log.
An unrelated incident involved a suspect using other people’s credit or debit cards to fill a truck with diesel fuel. This happened June 21 around 9:30 p.m. at the Chevron on Hwy. 92 South. The report stated that the suspect pumped gas multiple times using various cards until the attendant shut off the pump.
Eugene James, 28, of Dallas, Ga., was turned over Oct. 30 by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office according to the Fayette County Jail log. His charges include financial identity fraud, computer fraud and financial transaction card fraud. All are felonies.
Elsewhere in the county, a suspect was charged after taking a 2008 blue Mini-Cooper without permission Oct. 28 from a residence where she lives and from a person she knows. Jenna Luster, 30, of Fayetteville was picked up from the Carroll County Jail and returned to Fayette to face charges of entering auto and theft by taking, according to the Fayette County Jail log.
A man walked into the RaceTrac on S. Hwy. 85 the afternoon of Oct. 30 and got into an incident with a store employee. The report did not indicate the cause of the incident, but the suspect threatened to shoot the employee and was heard by several witnesses. One of them called 911 and deputies interviewed the employees as well as witnesses at the scene.
Jeremiah Varner, 25, of Austell was arrested and charged with two felony counts of terroristic threats and acts as well as a lesser charge of simple assault.
