The Twilight Theatre, a local theater company, is holding auditions for their summer production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella.” The family-friendly show will be performed at the Frederick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater in Peachtree City on July 27, 28 and August 3, 4 .

The Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella features some of the most beloved songs of American musical theater including, “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago.”  Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” was originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews in the title role of Cinderella.  This television version of Cinderella was the most widely viewed program in the history of the new medium. Younger audiences may remember the 1965 version with Leslie Ann Warren or the 1997 version with Brandy.

This summer’s production is sure to be one of Twilight Theatre’s most glamorous and magical shows yet.  Director Sarah Stitt will be making her directing debut at the Fredrick Brown Jr. Amphitheater with this production, after appearing as an actress in several of Twilight’s productions, including “Les Miserables” and as leading lady Nancy in the 2010 production of “Oliver!.” Stitt is the creator, writer and director of Twilight’s popular Princess Tea Parties.  When asked why this production of Cinderella was a not-to-miss show Stitt replied, “Twilight Theatre is truly a family theater and there is no better show for families to take part of together than Roger and Hammerstein’s ‘Cinderella,’ a show I grew up watching with my family. This year’s show will also be a technically challenging production as we strive to present the community with Twilight Theatre’s most glamorously costumed, beautifully choreographed, and magically staged production yet. You do not want to miss being a part of this show!”

Stitt and Music Director Andrea Caldwell are looking for a strong ensemble of at least 50 actors, singers, and dancers from ages 7 to adult, as well as talented performers (ages 15 and up) to bring the classic lead characters to life.  Twilight Theatre productions are wonderful activities for families to participate in during the summer months.

Auditions will be held Monday, May 8 and Tuesday, May 9 at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church from 5-8 p.m. both nights. Those auditioning should be prepared to sing a musical theater piece of their choosing and should bring accompaniment CDs. There may also be cold reading from the script. Some lead roles will be required to sing certain audition pieces. Callbacks will be held on May 10, and rehearsals will begin May 28.  Anyone wishing to audition, but unable to attend either audition night may e-mail Director Sarah Stitt at Cinderella@TheTwilightTheatre.com to schedule an early audition.

This production is also looking for people high school age and up to work on the Technical Crew and Backstage Crew, including: set, lights, makeup and hair, costumes and dressers. An informational meeting about crews will be held on May 15 at 7 p.m. at the Fayetteville Public Library.
