East Coweta Middle teacher receives nat’l award

East Coweta Middle School teacher Blaire Booth was recently honored by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association as one of 36 teachers from across the U.S. to receive its prestigious Teacher Excellence Award. 

The award is one of the highest honors given to technology education classroom teachers and is presented in recognition of each recipient’s outstanding contribution to the profession and to his or her students. The awards were announced during ITEEA’s Annual Conference, held in Columbus, Ohio, in March.

Booth has served as an engineering and technology teacher at East Coweta Middle since 2007. A graduate of Georgia Southern University, Valley City State University and Valdosta State University, Booth was elected in 2010 as the president of the Georgia Engineering and Technology Educator’s Association and is the youngest person to ever hold that post.

The ITEE Teacher Excellence Award is one of the highest honors given to technology and engineering  education classroom teachers and is presented in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the profession and their students.

Candidates for the Teacher Excellence Award must be characterized as providing technology and engineering education instruction of high quality, learner-centered and relevant to a study of technology and engineering.
