There are only 10 lots left at the Senoia Cemetery. A move by the Senoia City Council at the April 2 meeting is expected to lead to a lower contract price to accommodate the cemetery’s expansion that would provide more than 1,000 additional grave sites.

The council agreed to accept the $84,857 low bid by Catos Contracting with the understanding that City Administrator Richard Ferry would work with the company to look at various value engineering aspects of the project that could lead to a re-negotiated cost.

The council in January approved the expansion, providing an additional 2.5 acres at the cemetery on Stallings Road to be developed for 1,020 additional grave sites.

Ferry at that meeting told council members that the money spent on the project will be recouped from the sales of cemetery lots. The price of those lots has yet to be determined, Ferry added.

Nine other companies submitted bids for the project. The next lowest bid to Catos was that of Zaveri Enterprises, Inc. at $89,555 while the high bid of $166,813 was submitted by Southeast Site Development.
