The Peachtree City Council is expected to decide Thursday on what traffic calming improvements, if any, will be pursued for two intersections on Peachtree Parkway: at Tinsley Mill and Loring Lane.

The matter has taken on some urgency because of the pending repaving project that will be going out to bid for the entire north section of Peachtree Parkway stretching from Ga. HIghway 54 to Ga. Highway 74.

In addition to traffic calming devices, the city will be looking at the addition of mini-roundabouts, left turn lanes and paved shoulders, according to a memo from City Engineer David Borkowski.

City staff will present data on speed studies conducted in the area along with the potential crash reduction factors of various traffic calming devices.

The council meeting starts at 7 p.m. Thursday at City Hall and is open to the public.

In other business, Council is also expected to approve $235,000 in repairs for the city’s tennis center including roof repairs and repairs and replacements for the heating, ventilation and cooling system.

The funds for the project will come from the $3 million facilities improvement bond the city has enacted to handle repairs and upgrades to a variety of city facilities.

The bond proceeds have paid for the replacement of the bubble and air exchange system used for the Kedron pools in the offseason and also upgrades to The Gathering Place senior citizens center which re-opened this week.
