Richard L. Adams, 70, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born in Modesto, Calif., youngest of six children to Neola and Merle Adams.

He is survived by his wife, Patti; two children, Kimberly Momberger (Ryan), and Richard Adams II (Rachel); seven grandchildren: Claire, Haddon, Elise, Preston, Molly, Oakley and Cale; sisters, Vione Pauls and Donna Myovich; brother, Wayne Adams.

He graduated in 1959 from Pacific Grove High School; received his undergraduate degree from Bethany University, Masters of Divinity from Golden Gate Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Ministry from the School of Theology at Claremont.

He served as a Chaplain in the U.S. Army for 25 years, completing his service as the Corps Chaplain, 18th Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, N.C. in 1995. Upon retirement, he returned to California, serving on staff and as the Senior Pastor at Cypress Community Church in Salinas until 2005. In 2006 he joined the staff of First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City as Parish Associate. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Mar. 10, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Dr. David Miller officiating.

Burial with military honors will be at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, Calif. on Mar. 23, 2012 at 12:30 p.m.

A Memorial Service will be held on Mar. 24, 2012 2 p.m., Cypress Community Church, Salinas, Calif.
