FAYETTEVILLE, GA — The Fayette County Branch of the NAACP invites the community to an evening of music, fellowship, meaningful conversation, and purpose at its 2026 Freedom Fund Gala, “A Motown Affair.”

This year’s celebration will combine the unmistakable sound and spirit of Motown with a fresh approach to the traditional keynote experience.

Rather than featuring a single keynote speaker, the Fayette County NAACP will bring together NAACP Presidents from across Metro Atlanta for a special panel discussion titled “Where Do We Go from Here?”

Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s historic speech and book of the same name, the conversation will examine the continuing work of civil rights, the challenges facing our communities today, and the role each generation must play in moving the work forward.

“We wanted to do something different this year,” said Quentin “Coach Q” Pullen, Freedom Fund Gala Chair. “Dr. King asked, ‘Where do we go from here?’ nearly 60 years ago, and it remains a question worth asking today. Bringing together NAACP leaders from across Metro Atlanta gives us an opportunity to have a real conversation about where we are, where we need to go, and how we get there together.”

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a Music Fellowship, giving guests an opportunity to connect and enjoy the sounds and spirit of Motown before dinner and the Freedom Fund Gala program.

Guests can also look forward to a live band, DJ, dinner and fellowship, NAACP annual awards presentation, dancing, and special Motown-themed auction items.

The annual Freedom Fund Gala supports the continuing work of the Fayette County NAACP in areas including civic engagement, education, youth leadership, advocacy, and community empowerment.

This year’s event is designed to be both a celebration and a call to action, a chance to enjoy the music that helped define a generation while continuing the conversation about building stronger and more equitable communities.
