Oak Grove Class Models Good Habits

Oak Grove Elementary students modeled their own good habits.

Due to the high heat index that day, recess was moved indoors. Sarah James’s 2nd grade class used the time to mold their own 7 Habits messages.

The class had been focusing on Leader In Me habits during morning meetings and connecting the language when they see it in action throughout the day. A student told James they had a surprise, and they were beyond excited to share that they created the habits out of Play-Doh.

“What’s so amazing about this activity is that it was 100% student-driven,” said James.

Many of the students got involved, using ‘synergy’ to accomplish a task with people they may not normally play with during recess. 

“Something I’m very passionate about is giving students leadership opportunities in the classroom and that every student can be a leader,” said James. “I’m hopeful that this passion connects to my students and that they leave my class knowing how much they can offer this world.”
