The poetry of North Fayette Elementary students Cairo Boyd and Orion Richardson won at the 2026 Inspirational Messages of Peace Contest.

Boyd, a 3rd grader, won for the piece “The Fight for Peace.” Richardson, a 2nd grader, won for the piece “Why Was Martin a King?”

The competition is held in conjunction with the 34th anniversary celebration of the ‘I Have a Dream’ World Peace Rose Garden at the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park on May 14. All winning students are invited to read their poems during the ceremony and unveil their plaque in the Garden at the close of the ceremony.

More than 3,100 students participated in this year’s competition.
