For 30 years, Carol Jensen-Linton has been welcoming new people to Peachtree City and the surrounding area.

Over these many years, Carol has visited thousands of homes, often sitting with new residents surrounded with unpacked boxes, helping them gain their bearings in a new place. If you have ever received a visit from Carol, you know that she brings a wide smile and a wealth of information to help you settle into your new town.

Carol first joined the Peachtree City Chapter of the New Neighbors League Club (NNLC) in 1995 when she moved to Georgia from Austin, Texas. Not long after, she took the position of Club Director and Area Manager.

Following the format set out by the National Organization, she oversaw the induction of a new board every six months for the past 30 years. In addition to serving as a one-woman greeting service, Carol made sure the club followed the organizational guidelines and program plans to keep the club traditions alive.

Under Carol’s leadership, NNLC grew significantly in both membership and reach by bringing new residents together through a variety of interest groups. Whether the new neighbors were from another part of Georgia, or a country on the other side of the world, stay-at-home moms and senior-level professionals, walkers and wine enthusiasts, bunco players and foodies, all found a welcoming sense of community and friendship in their new home thanks to Carol’s efforts.

A wife to husband Ron who passed away in 2020, a mom, stepmom, aunt and grandma, Carol has adeptly juggled family life alongside her NNLC responsibilities and a multitude of other activities. She runs her own company as a Juice Plus representative, she is an active member of her church, the score keeper for the Starr’s Mill basketball team, and a participant in Fayette Chamber of Commerce events.

Carol walked with the club float in the 4th of July parade countless times. She has organized hundreds of book clubs and movie outings, hosted dozens of holiday receptions, and led at least a dozen of her favorite activity – cruise trips. Through her efforts and actions, Carol has always encouraged NNLC members to explore new interests and build lasting connections.

Carol began her life in Omaha, Nebraska. She honed her communications and people skills during the many years she spent working as a social worker in Texas, a career she pursued after her graduate studies at Tulane. She earned her undergraduate degree from her beloved University of Nebraska and is an active member of the Georgians for Nebraska alumni group.

Carol is looking forward to traveling and staying involved with community activities after she retires from her role with NNLC at the end of this month. The local chapter of NNLC will be retiring with her. Several club members have worked together to form the new locally managed Friends And Neighbors Club that is kicking off this Spring. It is a tribute to all of Carol’s work that a new club will carry forward in a similar spirit, focused on providing a welcoming and supportive network to new residents in our community.
