A Senoia contractor previously charged in Coweta County is now facing additional felony theft counts after a grand jury returned new indictments tied to complaints from more than 30 homeowners.
As The Citizen previously reported, Nathan Gividen, associated with Southern Oaks Construction LLC, was initially charged after homeowners alleged they paid thousands of dollars for construction projects that were never completed. The original case centered on a detached garage project valued at roughly $17,000.
Grand jury adds new charges
According to updated reporting by FOX 5 Atlanta, a Coweta County grand jury has now indicted Gividen on five additional felony counts of theft by conversion. Investigators told FOX 5 the expanded case involves alleged losses totaling more than $150,000.
Authorities said more than 30 homeowners have come forward with similar complaints. Not all of the alleged incidents occurred in Coweta County, and cases outside local jurisdiction may be referred to other agencies.
License and business status
FOX 5 also reported that Gividen’s contractor license had expired and that his business license was recently revoked. Law enforcement officials said he was not legally authorized to perform the contracted work at the time of the agreements.
Custody and investigation
Gividen is being held at the Coweta County Jail as the investigation continues. Authorities told FOX 5 they are still gathering information from alleged victims.
What homeowners should know
Law enforcement officials are urging residents to verify a contractor’s license and business status before signing contracts or making substantial upfront payments. Officials recommend checking credentials through the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office and confirming local business registration.
The case remains under investigation, and additional legal proceedings are expected.
