Communities across Fayette County are preparing to honor local service members through ceremonies and concerts in the days leading up to Veteran’s Day. From Peachtree City’s traditional morning tribute to a free concert in Fayetteville, residents are invited to come together in gratitude for those who served.

Fayetteville to host Sunday celebration with live music

Main Street Fayetteville will present a free community concert on Sunday, November 9, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the downtown square. The event, produced in collaboration with local veteran organizations including the American Legion and VFW, will feature the band Freebird performing classic hits from Lynyrd Skynyrd.

A flag ceremony and military tributes will begin at 1:45 p.m., followed by the continuation of the concert.

“We hope you will come support Freebird and the amazing sponsors who pulled this wonderful event together,” organizers shared on the Main Street Fayetteville Facebook page.

Danny Harrison, public information officer for the City of Fayetteville, said the city has traditionally supported events hosted by local veterans’ groups, but this year’s partnership reflects a new level of collaboration. “Main Street Fayetteville is producing the event with the military veteran organizations collaborating,” Harrison said. “I plan to be there covering the event, so we’ll have some great moments to share.”

Peachtree City ceremony scheduled for November 11

Peachtree City will hold its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Tuesday, November 11, beginning at 9 a.m. at the McIntosh Trail Complex, located at 191 McIntosh Trail.

“This heartfelt ceremony will bring together residents, community leaders, and veterans to pay tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and service of our nation’s heroes,” city organizers stated. “It’s a meaningful tradition that unites our community in gratitude and reflection.”

The event is free and open to all residents. Attendees can find additional details on the Recreation and Special Events or City of Peachtree City Facebook pages.

Tyrone to feature local keynote and student art

The Town of Tyrone will host its Veterans Day observance on Monday, November 11, at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park. The event will feature retired Lt. Col. Burt Minor as keynote speaker.

Artwork created by students from Burch Elementary School will be displayed as part of the ceremony, adding a creative touch to the community’s tribute. Light refreshments will be available thanks to the Tyrone Rotary Club.

Residents are invited to attend and join in honoring the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Each Fayette County community’s celebration provides a way for residents to pause, remember, and thank those who have defended the nation’s freedoms.
