North Fayette Elementary is getting the community involved thanks to a Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) pizza party and recruitment social.

The Watch D.O.G.S. program provides positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important. Through this national initiative, volunteers help out in the school by assisting with various activities such as monitoring school grounds, helping in classrooms, and supporting special events. The goal is to foster a positive school environment, strengthen relationships between parents and the school community, and model positive behavior for students.

The Watch D.O.G.S. also provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security, reduce bullying, and provide a greater sense of campus safety allowing students and teachers to focus on learning and instruction.

Ilse Bowman, Title 1 Parent Liaison at North Fayette, was thrilled to see so many interested attendees at the recruitment social.

“We hope the participants left the event with a strong sense of connection and purpose, recognizing how important and impactful positive male role models can be in the lives of students. We hope they feel empowered to take an active role in our school community.”
