NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Zach John King today releases an EP titled Slow Down. The release of the EP earmarks an exciting new chapter for King as an artist on the rise.

Raised in Fayetteville, GA, King’s upbringing helped mold him into the artist he is today. King came from a long line of creative individuals, with several generations of poets in his family. He also credits his parents for encouraging him to pursue his passions as well as his grandmother for nurturing his love of music. King cites memories of the matriarch always having the radio on in her kitchen while she baked biscuits, playing country legends including George Jones and Patsy Cline. As he got older, King ventured into other genres, discovering music from bands like The Police, Third Eye Blind, and Biz Markie.

Later on, King cut his teeth as a performer, fronting and founding an indie rock band. The group formed in high school and stayed together while King was a student in college. King continued to write songs during this time but often found himself writing about the life he experienced growing up in Fayetteville. He eventually realized he felt called to write music in the country genre, spurring a move to Music City.

With a dream of writing songs for other artists, King officially moved to Nashville in 2021 with his wife, Kat. Working as a server on Broadway and writing as much as possible, King had few connections and struggled finding a path to having his songs cut by other artists. He began recording the songs himself, later deciding to release some as an artist. He eventually released a track, “Wannabe Cowboy,” that changed everything. With honest lyrics and stripped-down production, the breakout track went on to garner 4.9 million global worldwide streams and counting.

He eventually signed with Nashville-based record label Sony Music Nashville, this year dropping several tracks leading up to the release of new EP, Slow Down

King reflected on his path to signing with Sony Music Nashville, sharing, “I don’t know a life without music. From my experiences as a kid growing up in Georgia to my years playing music with my buddies, all these moments have truly shaped who I am as an artist. To now be a signed artist with a label like Sony Music Nashville and be releasing this music that feels so authentic to me is such a blessing.”

With a total of six tracks, Slow Down introduces fans to King, a country artist with an affinity for indie rock, clever hooks, and poignant, emotional lyrics. A co-writer on every track, King delivers his most honest songwriting yet, with each song taking inspiration from King’s experiences over the years.

The full track list for Slow Down includes the following songs:

1. Lose You – Zach John King / Alex Hope / Sasha Sloan

2. She Didn’t Have To – Zach John King / Beau Bailey / Matt McVaney / Joybeth Taylor

3. I Deserve A Heartbreak – Zach John King / Thomas Archer / Michael Lotten

4. Slow Down – Zach John King / Thomas Archer / Kyle Fishman / Michael Tyler

5. Hole In The Wall – Zach John King / Abram Dean / Jimmy Robbins

6. Cold Shoulder – Zach John King / Zarni Dewet / Tom Whall

“I’m thrilled to have my EP out today,” King shared. “I think the project really reflects the journey I’ve been on personally and musically over the past couple of years and I’m really proud of how it all came together. Hope y’all love it!”

In addition to releasing new music, King opened for Nate Smith and also toured with Conner Smith, Vincent Mason, and more. This year, he played international shows including C2C and is gearing up to play CMAFest this summer. For more information on all things Zach John King, visit zachjohnking.com.
