Peachtree City Fire and EMS responded to an active fire call on April 7th at approximately 2 p.m. to a home at 204 Riveria Court in Peachtree City. Firefighters worked swiftly, and the flames were eventually extinguished.

The home suffered considerable damage, and a preliminary investigation by the fire marshal indicates the fire appears to have been caused by careless smoking near oxygen tubing.

The homeowner sustained minor injuries and was transported for medical treatment. One firefighter was injured during the incident but was later released from emergency care.

Deputy Chief Wil Harbin stressed the dangers of smoking around medical oxygen. “Use extreme caution when utilizing supplemental oxygen,” he said. “Don’t smoke.”
