Peachtree City United Methodist Church donated $1,000 to the Fayette County Public Schools Nutrition Program. The generous donation will help pay down lunch debt for students district-wide, according to a school spokesperson.

J.C. Booth Middle School is right next door to Peachtree City United Methodist Church. Miles Barnes,  the Director of Students at PTCUMC, said, “One of the things that PTCUMC strives to be is for our neighbors. So when J.C. Booth moved in and became our literal next door neighbor, we jumped on the opportunity to develop a relationship.”

He continued, “Part of my role here is to equip key life influencers in students’ lives and schools are a huge part of that. So I asked the counselors at Booth if we could help with lunch debt. They got me connected with Patty at school nutrition and when she came back with the numbers, we realized we could help more than just Booth.”

Initially the school wrote a check for $1000 to help offset the Booth debt, but they see more possibilities. “We got with Patty for the remaining amount and are paying that as well. Honestly, it wasn’t really recognition we were after but for the neighboring schools to know that we’re there for them.”
