A traffic stop initiated by Fayette County deputies on State Route 85 North led to a multi-county pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies and a series of multiple gunshots around 7 PM on Monday, February 3.
The incident began when Fayette County Deputies identified a vehicle suspected to be connected to recent entering auto reports out of South Fulton County. The pursuit started in Fayette County and extended into Clayton County before returning back to Fayette and again into Clayton.
During the pursuit, the passenger fired multiple gunshots from the vehicle back at pursuing deputies. When the suspect crashed at the intersection of Highway 19-41 and Winding Way Lane in Clayton County, shots were fired again. Two suspects were taken into custody: a female suspect, Maiya Gulley, was apprehended at the scene and taken to the Clayton County Jail, while a male suspect was transported to Grady Hospital with gunshot wounds.
All deputies from Fayette County and Clayton County are reported safe. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has been called in to conduct an investigation into the officer-involved shooting. Further updates will be provided by the GBI as the investigation continues.
