I WILL THRIVE - Women and organizations working together to improve Maternal Health in Georgia.
“If you save a woman, you save generations to come”. I began Phenomenal Women’s Health to help women and girls to develop those key physical, mental, spiritual, and fiscal skills.”- Cheryl Burnside, founder.

Founded in 2007 by Cheryl Burnside, Tyrone-based non-profit Phenomenal Women’s Health (PWH) serves girls and women all over the 12-county Metro Atlanta area. Mrs. Burnside, a trained physical therapist, is a respected longtime community activist in our county and city (https://citylifestyle.com/fayettecounty/issues/2023-05 ).

The mission of PWH is to provide girls and women with the skills to build a healthier, happier, more fulfilling life. In a rapidly changing world with technology impacting our lives, both positively and negatively, Phenomenal Women’s Health cannot address all the complex physical and mental issues faced by all of our young ladies. However, any long journey starts with a few steps. Thus far, in less than 2 short decades of existence, it has helped over ten thousand young ladies and women. PWH offers several specific, targeted programs-

* “Loving Me Phenomenally”, a 6-week course given in Peachtree City and Fayetteville, teaches young women (ages 11-15) basic life, health, and wellness skills. Topics addressed include nutrition, exercise, self-respect, body image, proper etiquette, dressing for success, career guidance, and financial planning. Plus building healthy lifestyles and relationships with family and friends. Loving Me Mentoring Program’s 6-week session in February is on soft skills to prepare the girls for college and the future workforce. The program will be held at the Fayette Life Academy on Grady Ave.(the Old Fayette Middle School) on Saturdays from 10 – 12 from February 22 to March 29th.

Their 2025 STEAM Leadership camp during the Spring break will take place from 9am-2pm on Monday, April 7 – Wednesday the 9th at the Yamaha facility in Newnan.

* “Stepping Out into Success” is a 10-month program focused on young women (ages 16-19) developing education and skills to prepare them for success. Offered at a variety of locations in the Metro area, this program covers communications, relationship development, building self-confidence, as well as general personal and career development. There are various related trips and activities to expose young ladies to various career paths. Mentors guide the participants, helping them with their journey, with the common goal of being a healthier young woman, physically, mentally, and fiscally.

* “I Will Thrive” is designed to meet the needs of young women who are 23-70+ years old via full and half-day educational sessions. As is true with all PWH programs, it addresses physical, mental, spiritual, and fiscal aspects, helping participants to self-evaluate and be their best selves. Total wellness is achieved via workshops and seminars regarding dealing positively with the stresses of everyday life using mental health techniques, creating friendships and related networking, preventing and managing chronic diseases via awareness, good nutrition, and making realistic lifestyle changes leading to a better personal outlook on life.

Phenomenal Women’s Health has been phenomenally successful (to use a pun), due both to its leadership and its numerous volunteers. Many of the young women who go through this mentorship and self-help program return to help others to achieve a better life.
