The Fayette County Health Department is moving later this month to a new location, one that also will house other public health services—including WIC, environmental health, substance abuse/mental health services and more—all under one roof.
The health department, currently located on West Stonewall Avenue, is moving about a mile away to 245 Booker Avenue in Fayetteville, the site of the former East Fayette Elementary School.
To ensure a smooth transition, the current health department location will be closed from Friday, Jan. 10, through Monday, Jan. 20, to relocate to its new building.
Health department staff plan to begin seeing patients at the new location on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Community members can follow the Fayette County Health Department’s Facebook page for any updates to the anticipated re-opening date.
You can schedule a health department appointment online at www.district4health.org or call (800) 847-4262.
“We are extremely thankful to the Fayette County Board of Commissioners, the Fayette County Board of Health, and the Fayette County Board of Education for providing this new facility,” said Beverlyn Ming, RN, BSN, nurse manager of the Fayette County Health Department. “We can’t wait for the community to see how the building has been transformed to provide our county with improved access to health care services in one convenient location.”
The former school has been newly renovated to become the home not only to the health department, but also to several other services provided by the Georgia Department of Health through District 4 Public Health, including Environmental Health, WIC & Nutrition Center, Emergency Preparedness, and Epidemiology offices.
The Fayette County WIC office will offer both remote and onsite services at its current location at 160 Bastille Way until Wednesday, Jan. 29. The Fayette County Environmental Health office, currently at West Stonewall Avenue, plans to move to the new location during the week of Monday-Friday, Jan. 13-17. Its staff members encourage the community not to schedule any appointments that week if at all possible and to contact the office prior to visiting to ensure staff members are available to assist. There also may be times during the weeks before and after they may not be in the office due to the relocation.
