This week, on Wednesday, October 23, at 9 a.m., the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9949 will be hosting a commemoration of the 41st anniversary of the bombing of the USMC barracks in Lebanon on the same day in October 1983.

This activity will take place at the Veterans Monument, 201 Willowbend Road, Peachtree City, GA. (near the city library).

VFW Post Life Member and USMC Veteran Tim Trice will be the keynote speaker. He will teach us the history of that terrible day while leading this event.

The public is invitede to come and take part for the wreath laying, pledge of  allegiance, offer prayers, listen to speakers and finally sound “Taps” in commemoration of this fitting tribute to 220 Marines who lost their lives for our nation 41 years ago.

Everyone — Veterans, guests, friends and family — are invited to this important and mournful date in history.
