The annual National Night Out public safety engagement event returns to Fayetteville on Tuesday, August 6, and it will again take place behind Fire Station #92 in the Fayette Pavilion shopping center. The free event runs 6-7:30 p.m.

Participating agencies include the Fayetteville Police Department, Fayetteville Fire Department, Fayetteville Municipal Court, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Fayette County Marshall’s Office, and Tyrone Police Department. This year, the Fayetteville-based Air Evac Lifeteam #153 rescue helicopter will also be on display.

Participating agencies will host vehicle tours, give away prizes, and even cook up free food for local residents and guests. Captain Austin Dunn, who supervises the Fayetteville Police Department CARE Unit, says he is planning to help with the grilling.

“This is a great event every year,” said Captain Dunn. “We appreciate Fayette Pavilion’s support and the support we receive from all our event sponsors and participating public safety agencies. We couldn’t do it without them.”

Captain Dunn also noted several other upcoming events the Fayetteville Police Department will host this year, including the October 5 Faith & Blue, which will take place noon to 2 p.m. at City Center Park. Dates have yet to be determined for the upcoming Coffee with a Cop, Guns & Hoses Volleyball Tournament, and Citizens Police Academy, all slated for this fall.
