An alleged porch pirate was among those taken into custody during the past week by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

According to an FCSO spokesman, deputies went to the Marnelle mobile home park on Hwy. 54 the evening of July 7, where they spoke to a victim who reported having packages stolen off her front porch. They looked at video evidence and identified one of the victim’s neighbors as the perpetrator.

Raquel Alvarado, 46, of Fayetteville was arrested and charged with felony theft by taking.

Elsewhere in the county, a deputy on patrol July 3 in the northern part of the county initiated a traffic stop in the area of Hwy. 314 and Kenwood Road due to excessive window tint on a vehicle. That in itself normally would result in only a warning, but a license check of the driver revealed that his license was suspended and he was a convicted felon in possession of a weapon. Augustin Angel, 32, of Mableton was arrested on those charges.

A driver who was failing to maintain his lane of travel was pulled over the evening of July 3 near Hwy. 92 and Hampton Road. The deputy smelled marijuana upon approaching the vehicle, and marijuana was found inside along with MDMA (Ecstasy) pills. Idrissa Jones, 32, of Jonesboro faces a felony drug charge as well as marijuana possession, driving with a suspended license and failure to maintain lane.

A car was moving near Hwy. 92 and McBride Road late in the evening July 8 when a deputy noticed that it had no visible tag light. The ensuing traffic stop revealed that the driver had an active probation violation out of Habersham County, and as he was being arrested, a stolen gun was found in his possession. He had been driving with an airbag that had been deployed. Tyler Dickens, 21, of Fayetteville was charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, improper equipment and tag light required.
