Buying a winning lottery ticket can be a life-changer in the form of a big financial windfall.

Trying to rig the game in your favor can also change your life; in Georgia it is a felony.

According to local law enforcement, a man allegedly tried some lottery-related funny business at a Race Trac on Hwy. 85 South and was caught.

A report indicated that he used some type of system to get the numbers on his phone as they were being printed out by the machine at the store and could determine whether the numbers were winners before paying for the tickets. If not, he then tried to slip away from the store without paying.

Cesar Rodriguez, 45, of Jonesboro was arrested June 25 for those actions. The charge is fraud to influence lottery winning.

Another alleged scammer was arrested June 24 regarding an attempt to prey on the elderly. The suspect was reportedly involved in a plan to convince an elderly person to send money to help someone get out of jail in another county.

Christina Moore, 26, of Douglasville was arrested on two felony charges of theft by deception. The age of the victim automatically triggered two felony charges of elder abuse.

Deputies were called June 25 to a fight between a married couple at Four Seasons Mobile Home Park. The wife fired a pistol at her husband, missing him but striking a neighboring trailer.

Alasia Petite, 24, of Fayetteville was arrested for felony aggravated assault as well as reckless conduct. Dennis Marble, 33, of Fayetteville — the husband — was also arrested for battery, as it was determined that he struck his wife.

Peachtree City officers responded June 25 to a business on North Peachtree Parkway in reference to a theft in progress. They located the suspect upon arrival and took him into custody. Jonathan Machado, 25, of Hialeah, Fla., was charged with felony theft by shoplifting and possession of tools for commission of a crime.
