It was another weekend of seemingly routine traffic stops leading to drug and alcohol arrests throughout Peachtree City, despite some motorists’ best efforts to hide their actions from police.

An officer on general patrol April 25 saw two men in a vehicle traveling east on Hwy. 54 near Hwy. 74. They were not wearing seat belts and trying to conceal themselves from the officer’s view. A traffic stop revealed that the passenger had a felony warrant as well as being in possession of marijuana. Rodney Philigence, 19, of Newnan was arrested and taken to the Fayette County Jail.

On April 27 a dark-color SUV was seen — well, barely seen — driving down Hwy. 54 in the middle of the night with no headlights or tail lights on. During the ensuing traffic stop the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The man, 69, of Sharpsburg was arrested for DUI and taken to jail, while the car was removed by a licensed driver, presumably with the lights on.

A grey Nissan was seen in the area of the Peachtree Hotel and Conference Center failing to maintain its lane and striking curbs. Once it was stopped, a DUI investigation took place and the woman, 40, of Doraville was arrested on that charge.

After a vehicle was seen not responding to traffic signals, a traffic stop took place in the wee hours of April 28 on Petrol Point at the Pit Stop. The officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage at the scene and conducted a DUI investigation. The man, 27, of Fayetteville was arrested for driving under the influence.

An officer responded the afternoon of April 28 to a report of a male exposing himself in public. He was located, and the investigation resulted in the arrest of the man, 22, of Peachtree City for public indecency and operation of an unregistered golf cart.

An officer on patrol April 28 located a vehicle reported to have been involved in a recent theft and made a traffic stop in the Home Depot parking lot. Tankeria Brown, 30, of Fairburn was arrested on a felony shoplifting charge. Dywoneica Bryant, 28, of Stockbridge was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

An April 28 accident near Hwy. 54 and Planterra Way led officers to discover that a passenger in one of the vehicles involved had an active warrant out of a neighboring jurisdiction. Alicia Harris, 37, of Peachtree City was arrested and taken to the Fayette County Jail.
