— Commissioner Eric Maxwell: Keep Fayette County moving forward —

I am announcing my campaign for Re-Election to the Fayette County Board of Commissioners, Post 1. Post 1 essentially covers the middle of Fayette County. It basically runs from southern Tyrone to northern Peachtree City to western Fayetteville. The district covers the Fayette County Hospital area as well as the Trilith Complex.

I have enjoyed serving Fayette County since 2007. I am completing my third term. I am asking for your continued support.

I first moved to Fayette County in 1973 as a son of a Delta pilot. I graduated from Fayette County High School in 1977. I received my BS in Political Science from West Georgia College in 1983. I received my law degree from Mercer University in 1991.

I have a small general practice of law in Fayetteville with a primary office in Peachtree City. I am a Charter Member of the Peachtree City First Baptist Church (51 years). I am the past president of the Fayette County Bar Association. I have been on the Board of Directors of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce. I served as President of the Peachtree City Rotary Club in 2000.

I have previously served as Chief Judge of the Municipal Court of Peachtree City. I was appointed by Governor Sonny Perdue to serve on the Griffin Judicial Circuit Indigent Defense Committee. I am the former Chairman of the Fayette County Board of Commissioners, having served from 2017-2018.

I am conservative and follow the Fayette County Land Use Plan, which generally means very low density, single family residential areas. I am a strong supporter of law enforcement and public safety. I do not want rapid transit in Fayette County. I have assisted in the managed growth of Fayette County.

These are some of my major accomplishments over the past few years. We have a new Animal Shelter to be opened March 2024. We just recently opened our new Elections Headquarters. We are in the process of constructing a new Parks and Recreation Center at Kiwanis Field. We have the construction of our new County Health Facility currently in progress.

Past SPOLST completed projects include the opening of Veteran’s Parkway, numerous Stormwater infrastructure improvements, roundabouts and other unseen improvements. We have recently opened new Fire Department stations. We have the number one, most responsive 911 Center in the country with enhanced GPS capability assisting our First Responders.

Our Water Department, which produces wonderful water, is in the process of installing state of the art meters for all residences and businesses. Our Finance Department is one of three AAA rated Departments in the State of Georgia. We will be renovating and completing the build out of the third floor of our Courthouse soon. I am most proud of our 750 county employees delivering “above and beyond” levels of service.

My wife Janet and I live in north Peachtree City. We share two college children, Gregory and Jordan and our dog Jingles.

There is still work that needs to be completed. Help keep Fayette County Moving Forward. I can be reached at my office at 770-461-1461 or you can contact me on my cell at 678-822-7409. I am asking for your vote and support.
