— Four distinct pathways from associate degrees at SCTC to bachelor’s degrees at Gordon State College —
A partnership between Gordon State College and Southern Crescent Technical College and their local locations continues as both prioritize educational opportunities and support for eligible students pursuing associate or bachelor’s degrees at GSC.
This partnership expansion was commemorated with a formal signing on Jan. 19, at the SCTC Fayette campus in the former J.C. Booth Middle School building on Peachtree Parkway South in Peachtree City.
The agreement features four distinct pathways from associate degrees at SCTC to bachelor’s degrees at GSC.
Students completing associate degrees in general studies or consumer economics at SCTC can transfer seamlessly into a Bachelor of Science degree at GSC; SCTC students completing associate of degrees in accounting, business management, or business technology can easily transfer into bachelor’s degrees in interdisciplinary studies or management and administration at GSC.
A new fourth option establishes a new B.S.N. completion pathway with subsequent completion of the A.S.N. program and RN licensure at SCTC mapped to the B.S. in nursing degree at GSC.
“I’m delighted that we could renew the partnerships that we have worked on with our closest technical college partner and that we could expand the work to include a direct pathway from the RN degree to our BSN degree,” said Dr. Ric Calhoun, GSC assistant vice president of innovative education and strategic initiatives. “I look forward to continuing the work to expand educational opportunities for our students that come from Southern Crescent.”
SCTS students interested in pursuing these pathway options should contact their advisors to review their courses, GSC program requirements, and transfer guidelines. The goal of the agreement is to ensure a smooth transition for SCTC students wishing to continue their studies at GSC.
Attendees at the signing included Calhoun; Dr. Donald J. Green, GSC president; Dr. Irvin Clark, SCTC president; Dr. Joanne Ardovini, GSC provost and vice president for academic and strategic affairs; and a host of SCTC campus leaders, employees, and students aspiring to obtain their bachelor’s degrees at GSC.
Founded in 1852, GSC with its main campus in Barnesville, Ga., is a member of the University System of Georgia. The college has a distinctive legacy of excellent scholarship and service. GSC offers nearly 30 degrees, which includes multiple associate and baccalaureate pathways for students. With an enrollment of over 3,100 students, GSC offers an intimate academic setting with state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories.
