The Whitewater High PALS Club made some new friends from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

The PALS (Peer are Linking Students) Club focuses on building bonds between regular education students and special needs students, and they recently got to bond with important members of their community.

School Resource Officer David Schrepfer hosted “Show and Tell” for the PALS Club, inviting fellow officers to bring along their impressive cars and equipment. Students had the opportunity to sit in the vehicles, activate the alarms, and use the speakers.

Club sponsor Emily Stallings was thrilled to have the students meet new role models while fostering trust with law enforcement.

“I wanted the interaction with police officers to foster a sense of community engagement. I hoped that the students understood that law enforcement is there to serve and protect the community, including individuals like them,”’ said Stallings. “I appreciate individuals like Investigator Schrepfer who are enthusiastic about promoting inclusivity by actively involving those who are often overlooked.”

The officers also generously handed out goody bags to each student, and the students continued to proudly wear the badges for several days following the event.

“I am confident that they thoroughly enjoyed this experience and will carry the memories of this day with them for a lifetime.”
