Who’s closed for holidays and who’s open at local government offices

If you’ve got any urgent business with any Fayette County governmental office, you’d better get it done before close of business this coming Friday, Dec. 22.

That’s because county workers will be taking a full week off for the Christmas break, and offices will be closed for the holidays for an entire week, from Christmas Day, Monday, Dec. 25, through New Year’s Day, Monday, Jan. 2. The county says it will reopen for business for the public on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

The city of Fayetteville will close to the public on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Dec. 26, but will reopen for public business Wednesday, Dec. 27. Solid waste pickup sevice will be delayed one day for all Fayetteville customers that week, the city says.

Peaachtree City government offices will be closed Monday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Dec. 26. They’ll reopen to the public on Wednesday, Dec. 27, the city says. In addition the Rockaway yard waste recycling center at 100 Meade Field Drive will be closed to the public on Saturday, Dec. 23 and Saturday, Dec. 30, the city says.

Holiday hours for the Peachtree City Library will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the following days: Dec. 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23. The library will be closed for a total of four days: Dec. 24, Dec. 25 and Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 1, 2024.
