Whitewater Middle’s Wright wins Teacher of Promise

Whitewater Middle’s Katherine Wright is the Georgia Council for the Social Studies (GCSS) 2023 June Bryant Teacher of Promise Award.

The June Bryant award recognizes beginning social studies teachers who show exceptional promise in the field of teaching social studies.

Whitewater Middle Principal Brian Butera recommended Wright, an 8th grade social studies, for the award, praising her focus on professional learning and on collaboration with her peers. He noted Wright incorporates literacy into her classroom, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. He credits her with helping the school see an increase in literacy scores.
