September 17, 2023, marks the 236th anniversary of the 1787 Constitutional Convention where the Constitution of the United States was finalized and signed, thus outlining the fundamental principles by which our nation is governed.  Constitution Week, September 17–23, affords the opportunity for all citizens to learn about Georgia’s role in the history of our nation’s founding documents.  Georgia had two signers of the Constitution, Abraham Baldwin and William Few.

Constitution Day was officially enacted on August 2, 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower per a congressional resolution petitioned by the Daughters of the American Revolution.  In September of 2002, George W. Bush officially declared the inception of Constitution Week.
