The spotlight will shine on top athletes with the kickoff of the first flag football all-star game this winter.

Flag football players from county schools Fayette County, Sandy Creek, Starr’s Mill, and Whitewater will gather with talent from surrounding counties for a night of gridiron action. The all-star game will be played at Whitewater High on Friday, December 15 at 7 p.m.

The GHSA first sanctioned flag football in 2020 with 88 schools, and it swelled to well over 200 within 2 years.  The goal is to give the players a chance to showcase their skills in front of attending college coaches and earn scholarship opportunities.

“This event helps bring attention to an exciting new sport,” said Whitewater coach Arren Swift. “Flag football has grown in popularity throughout the state and across the country, and Fayette County has taken action to add the sport to most of its high schools.”
