The MHS Chiefs Foundation Inc – established in 2022 as a 501c3 public charity and the first of its kind among Fayette County schools – is proud to offer two scholarships for the Class of 2023. Only McIntosh students are eligible! The two scholarships are the $1000 Board of Directors scholarship and the $500 Chick-fil-A 2nd Mile scholarship. Applications for both scholarships may be found at mhscf.org and will be accepted through March 31st, 2023. The scholarship awards will be announced on Honors Night.

The Foundation’s mission is to complement the endeavors of McIntosh High School (MHS) in developing, improving, supporting, promoting, and sustaining the enrichment and enhancement of educational opportunities and programs for ALL McIntosh students. The foundation will award scholarships for post-secondary studies to deserving students who embody traits including academic achievement, diligence, responsibility, sustained school and community involvement, selflessness, and a positive attitude. Funds will be raised through donations and sponsored events.

The foundation is the brainchild of retired USAF LtColonel Cele Eifert who has previously served as MHS PTSO President, chair of the MHS School Council, past Booster Club President for MHS Track and Golf, and has been the Director of the Hall of Fame since its inaugural year of 2011. She had researched other similar educational foundations around the country and determined that such an entity would be a valuable asset at McIntosh. Work to establish the foundation began in earnest in June 2021, with approval from MHS principal Maggie Walls. The official paperwork from the state and the IRS arrived in late 2022.

The MHS Chiefs Foundation Board of Directors is led by former MHS principal Lisa Fine, with Cele Eifert serving as the Secretary/Treasurer.  The current MHS principal, Maggie Walls, is on the Board of Directors, as is Britte Hardy Aromashodu (MHS Hall of Fame 2019 and Nike Showroom, Birmingham AL Supervisor), Harold Baro (MHS Hall of Fame 2017 & Senior VP & General Mgr, Simos Solutions), Diane Basham (retired MHS teacher and former FCBOE member), Kelly Lyons (local retail salesperson and past MHS Basketball Booster parent of Jordan – MHS Hall of Fame 2022 – and Cam), Gary Wood (retired VP Coca Cola Refreshments National Retail Sales and current “Voice of the Chiefs”), and Stephen Walker (Realtor – Berkshire Hathaway Home Services/GA Properties and current Director, National Association of Realtors and First Vice President, Georgia Association of Realtors).
