It is difficult to pull contraband out of your underpants while running away from the cops, as a Fayetteville man learned over the weekend.
According to an incident report, a Fayetteville Police officer stopped a Nissan Altima on Hwy. 85 the evening of Feb. 25, and the driver of the car tried to flee on foot during the traffic stop while trying to remove marijuana from his underwear.
The ensuing investigation revealed that he was concealing two pills identified as amphetamine and dextroamphetamine in a plastic bag in his underwear as well as about 18 grams of marijuana. He also had a THC vape cartridge in the car, and a Glock 19 .9mm pistol was on the front passenger seat.
Jayvion Snellings of Fayetteville was arrested on two counts of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance along with one count each of possession of an ounce or less of marijuana, possession of non-labeled prescription drugs, possession of a firearm during a crime, and obstructing law enforcement officers.
The Fayette County Jail provided Snellings with a fresh change of clothing — jailhouse style.
If the suspect was a dealer, this is a funny story. If the suspect was an addict, this is a sad story. Addiction is a disease and more conversation needs to happen around the addiction epidemic.
Hard to run with pants halfway to your knees. I’d love to see a mug shot of this person of low intelligence.
