Calling all local artists! The Friends of the Fayette County Public Library (FFCPL) is currently looking for adult, high school, and middle school artists of all mediums to participate in our second annual Art and Lit Community Event benefitting the Fayette County Public Library. Our goal is to pair literature with art, so each piece of submitted art should be inspired by, or correlate with, something from a particular book – a character, setting,
theme, genre, etc. FFCPL will provide the books for each piece, and books and submitted art pieces will be available for the public to view and purchase as part of a silent auction on Saturday, November 12 from 10 am to 3 pm at the Fayette County Public Library.
Participating artists will have their names and works advertised through the FFCPL website, in the Art and Lit show brochure, and also through the Southern Hands Art Studios Tour (SHAST). We are once again a stop on the SHAST tour this year!
Art pieces created and submitted should be family-friendly and can include oil paintings, watercolor, mixed media, digital media pieces, sculpture, woodworking, jewelry, textiles, and more. Literature inspiration can be all genres and all ages – children, teens, and adults. Join us for another year of connecting the community with art and literature!
All submitted art pieces directly support the Fayette County Public Library and are tax-deductible. Questions and interests can be sent to Michele Simpson at friends@ffcpl.org. We hope to see you there!
Artists can register for the show at www.FFCPL.org/art-and-literature.
