Inman students put pasta in motion

Learning is fun and unique at Inman Elementary where 4th graders ended their force and motion unit by creating a pasta mobile – using only pasta!

Students used their knowledge of simple machines, particularly a wheel and axle, to create their own movable pasta mobile, either solo or working in pairs. They also discussed the differences in all of the pasta mobiles and what they thought made some of them faster, go farther or break, or go slower.

Samantha Jones, one of the 4th-grade teachers who worked on the project, loved seeing the kids take an interest.

“We hope that the students gained more knowledge on how things ‘work’ and how crucial a wheel and axle is when creating something that is meant to be mobile.
