The stage will be bare, but Southside Theatre Guild will come alive at 8 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 29 as the top three plays from the theater’s One-Act Playwriting Competition are read-aloud in front of an audience for the first time.

“Southside Theatre Guild is so proud to be able to present the amazing work of these three writers,” said Jared Wright, the theater’s head of publicity and a member of the theater’s script committee. “It is a very special honor to bring their works to life for the first time.”

The plays being presented are “Theatre Ghosts,” by Mike Boylan, which took first place, “Finding Rachel,” by Pamela Whilliams which placed second, and “Administrative Discretion,” by Walter Jones, which placed third.

In lieu of set ticket prices for this event, the theater is accepting donations at the door. There will be concessions and refreshments available and each playwright will be on hand to discuss their work as well.
