Caleb Adams is one of the best and brightest young minds in the state. Adams, a senior at Sandy Creek High, has been chosen as a Distinguished Gifted Teen by the Georgia Association for Gifted Children.

The Distinguished Gifted Teen Award recognizes a student between the ages of 13 and 17 who has demonstrated giftedness, dedication, creativity, and a desire to help others. Winners earn a $500 scholarship to be used toward the cost of summer camp, college, or other activity related to their academic work.

Adams was nominated by Dr. Becky Ryckeley, Social Studies & Gifted Coordinator for Fayette County Public Schools. Ryckeley first met Adams when he was a keynote speaker at the first day of New Teacher Induction for Fayette County Public Schools. Adams, a newly-published author, wowed the large group of teachers, school administrators, board of education members, and Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Patterson with his confidence, wit, and engaging personality.

“He is so engaged with and enthusiastic about personal finance, that he wrote a book, ‘Teenage CFO: Lessons about Money and Finance,’ to educate his peers on the importance of personal finance at an early age. Imagine having access to a peer-written book cautioning against the use of credit and advising the value of early investment and savings,” said Ryckeley.

“Caleb Adams is a distinguished teen. He found an area where he has a skill and knowledge set, and he is working to share with others his age. His motivation, perseverance, and determination are commendable. I am proud to have him represent Fayette County Public Schools,” she said. — Provided by the Fayette County School System.
