A blended learning approach helps Robert J. Burch Elementary students better study the world around them. Bear 1st graders integrated science standards of knowing how trees change in each season and combined it with their math standards of counting, recording with tally marks, and using data to create a bar graph. They also reviewed skills from kindergarten to sort the leaves by shape before counting and recording with tally marks.

“I was able to observe the students using past skills and applying the math and science knowledge we have covered so far,” said Burch teacher Linda Barkoot. “It was a great, hands-on performance task for science and math!”
