When Fayette County’s newest teachers start the school year off, they will be doing so with a little extra help from the Fayette County Education Foundation. Continuing an annual tradition, the Fayette County Education Foundation gave each new teacher a $25 gift card at their New Teacher Induction summit.

Along with receiving the Amazon gift cards, the teachers were asked to support the Foundation’s mission, with nearly half of the 130 participants signing up for at least the Buck-A-Month Club where one dollar a month is automatically deducted and donated to the Foundation.

The Foundation uses tax-deductible gifts to provide funds and opportunities above and beyond the normal operating budget of the school system, and 100 percent of donations are returned to classrooms. Celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, the Fayette County Education Foundation has awarded well over $200,000 in teacher grants since 2002.
