A trio of Fayetteville Elementary students made their mark in the annual Give Wildlife a Chance Poster Contest from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

Alfonzo Mitchell won 1st place in the 5th grade division, Ava Sorrow won 1st place in the 1st-2nd grade division, and Annalyn Wietecha placed 2nd in the kindergarten division.

This year’s theme was “Nature is Everywhere!” Many people think nature only exists in remote wilderness areas. However, if you slow down and look closely, you’ll find nature everywhere. Whether you live in the country, the suburbs, or even a city, you can find a variety of life nearby. You just need to step outside and take time to notice it.

By participating in the Give Wildlife a Chance Poster Contest, students gain appreciation for Georgia’s diverse plants, wildlife, and habitats – including those close to home and far away – and will foster a desire to conserve these natural resources.
