Members of the Fayette County High Green Team aren’t afraid to get a little dirt under their fingernails. Along with custodian Ba Tran and other volunteers, they have been hard at work on a beautification project freshening up the school’s courtyards with flowers and shrubs.

The Green Club was started two years ago by student Sara Anis Ali, and teachers Brian Harmon and Laura Rogers serve as sponsors.

“The club is all about environmentally sustainable practices like recycling, as well as beautification projects like the courtyard and other spaces around the school,” said Harmon.

They accept monetary donations to purchase supplies, and they also gladly accept volunteers to help with hands-on work. Upcoming projects include adding flowers and other landscaping around the front of the school and revitalization of the greenhouse.
