Bicyclist, 18, charged with stealing from neighborhood vehicles

A Fayetteville man is in custody on multiple charges relating to thefts from vehicles he entered on Sept. 11.

Cory R. Baldree, 18, was charged with two counts of entering auto, three counts of financial identity fraud, obstruction, theft by taking and loitering or prowling, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Fayetteville officers received a call about a suspicious white male on a bicycle who had been seen on a home video in the Ga. Highway 54 East area in the early morning hours of Sept. 11, said Fayetteville Police Department spokesman Jeff Harris.

Reports from two other residences along Hwy. 54 East on Sept. 11 included two unlocked vehicles entered, with two knives and a watch charging cable stolen from one of the cars, Harris said.

Harris said Baldree, who lives in the immediate area, was subsequently located and taken into custody after the investigation. Some of the stolen items were recovered, Harris added.

Harris noted that Baldree has prior arrests for similar crimes.
