Police charged 41-year-old Peachtree City resident Jermaine Dubose on May 15 with shoplifting, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and terroristic threats and acts, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Dubose on May 14 was reported to have entered a convenience store on Ga. Highway 54 and was refused when he wanted to purchase beer due to having been involved in a prior issue at the store, according to Chris Hyatt, spokesman for the Peachtree City Police Department.

Dubose stole a beer and threatened to come back and shoot up the store, police reports said. Hyatt noted that Dubose was wearing a gun and holster at the time.

Dubose was identified by the store’s video and was located at his residence on May 15 and taken into custody, Hyatt said.

In another incident, Peachtree City woman is in custody following a May 16 incident with police where she fought with officers attempting to arrest her on a DUI charge.

Heather Bennett, 45, of Peachtree City was charged with DUI alcohol, simple battery against police, obstruction, obscured/missing license plate, open container and seatbelt violation, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Hyatt said officers received a call about a woman who appeared intoxicated falling in the parking lot of a local restaurant as she walked to her vehicle. A DUI BOLO (be on the look-out) for the vehicle was issued.

The vehicle was subsequently located and stopped at approximately 6:50 p.m., Hyatt said.

Bennett during the traffic stop was flailing, kicking and yelling at officers, and tried to break free as officers attempted to cuff her, said Hyatt, adding that Bennett refused to get into the patrol vehicle. Once in the officer’s vehicle, she tried to exit and kicked an officer, Hyatt added.

Bennett was transported to the Fayette County Jail.
