A man intending to sell an iPhone on April 10 in Fayetteville was robbed while showing the phone to the potential buyer.
Fayetteville Police Department spokesperson Ann Marie Burdett said the victim told officers he arranged to sell the phone to a male via Facebook.
The buyer, accompanied in his vehicle by another man, arrived in the parking lot of Chase Bank, the victim told officers. While showing the phone, the victim said the passenger in the buyer’s vehicle grabbed the phone from his hand and the vehicle sped off, Burdett said.
During the investigation, police used the partial license plate number received along with other investigatory methods to learn the identity of the individual who was the driver of the vehicle, and also the individual that made arrangements to purchase the telephone, Burdett said.
This is an open and active investigation, Burdett noted.
